Get Charge! Electricity and You
Through a partnership between Touchstone Energy Cooperatives and Discovery Channel Schools, we embarked on a campaign to ensure that local middle school students receive a quality education on electricity.
By streaming the vast amount of information on electricity and the important role cooperatives played in bringing electricity to rural America, students are able to easily digest the lesson plans presented.
This community outreach program, called "Get Charged! Electricity and You”, provides students in grades 5 through 9 with a comprehensive kit of educational materials on electricity that meets the National Academy of Science's National Science Education Standards.

Meet CFL Charlie!
DSO Electric Cooperative, a Touchstone Energy cooperative, has initiated a learning opportunity for students in grades K through 5. This is an educational kit like no other.
Students can become Super Energy Savers with this comprehensive and exciting set of instructional materials that introduces the latest “spokesman” for energy efficiency - CFL Charlie - and supports a key learning standard in every elementary school - electricity.
The contemporary activities teaches kids about electrical safety and energy efficiency. Activities are designed to certify the kids as official "Super Energy Savers" once the program is completed.
In additional to printed materials, there are Web-based lessons, games and activities available at Kids Energy Zone that can be enjoyed as well.
Providing our local schools with effective educational resources on electricity demonstrates our commitment to the community in which we live and work.
